September is going to be full my work at various places around the country (SO EXCITING!!!!), including three small works in Second Street Gallery's Teeny Tiny Trifecta 5. Second Street Gallery, located in Charlottesville, VA, will feature 438 artworks (8"x8" or smaller) from 146 artists this year. Each piece is priced at $100 and funds raised from this big, annual event help support the artists as well as Second Street gallery with their mission to bring the best of contemporary art to Central Virginia…and beyond!
In this show I have three mixed media collages on cradled wood board, titled Traverse City, Mackinac, and Isle Royale. Each piece features parts of a map of Michigan with a woman looking wistfully toward the map. I am always inspired by maps and the places of my youth, so the people in these works represent my dreamy nostalgia and my deep sense of place and connection to the mitten state and the Great Lakes.
If you are in the Charlottesville area and have the opportunity to visit the show, please drop me a line by email or on Instagram! I'd love to hear from you.
