This year has started off with a bang. Anjelika Deogirikar Grossman and I did a fun workshop at Gallery Y on January 11 and so many of you came out to make collage and support our show, future / past, curated by Beth Ferraro. The show comes down this weekend on January 25 and there is one last chance to see it and meet the artists/curator at our closing reception tea party. Come by and say hello! You can let us know if you will be coming here (apppreciated not required, if you don't rsvp please still feel free to stop by): EVENTBRITE.

It is also the last chance to see my three pieces up at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington in a show called Best in Class: Moca Arlington Artist Instructors. This exhibtion comes down on January 26th, so just a few more days! This is where I will be teaching Mixed Media Expressions starting on February 28 through March 21, Friday mornings from 10-12. If you are interested, check here for more information and to sign up!
I've also been working in my studio at Idylwood Studios and we are about to get classes and workshops started. Just waiting on lighting so we can see what we are doing! It has been ordered and should be installed in the near future, I will update here with class offereings as soon as we are ready. You can see the hallway below, which will serve as classroom space with my trusty studio assistant and with our planning committee.
Another thing I have been doing is mending moth-eaten sweaters. This has been a very meditative and soothing practice in the coldest part of the winter. I got some amazing and colorful wool from Carissa at Tint Makerspace in Falls Church and have been enjoying the process immensely. (You can sort of see that I was wearing one of the mended sweaters at the Gallery Y workshop!)

I've also been thinking quite a bit about social media and how I spend my time. I am going to close down my Facebook in the next week or two because I just waste so much time on there and am not getting much from it other than a headache. I'll keep Instagram open, it is the platform I use the most and where I have the best, most lovely and talented art community. I also have Threads and LinkedIn accounts but don't use the as much (except the games on LinkedIn, have you played them? So fun). And, lastly, I have opened up an account on Bluesky and am seeing how that might work for my art related stuff. So, if you are on any of these socials, say hello! And, extra bonus points if you are reading this blog on my website, thank you for being here in my little corner of the web.
